Maternity Services
24/7 Care
An OB/GYN provider and/or a Midwife is available 24/7 to deliver your baby. Our anesthesia providers and operating room team are also available at all times, should you need an emergency C-section or other surgical procedure.
Labor Support
Peanut balls, positioning methods, and hydrotherapy may be used to help you be more comfortable during labor.
Delivery Assistance
In addition to your support person(s) – a spouse, partner, family member or friend – our labor nurses are here to help you throughout your labor and delivery. You are also welcome to invite a doula to assist you.
Midwives
Midwife is a term meaning “with woman”. Certified nurse midwives provide care alongside or in place of physicians at Catholic Health hospitals. Learn more about our midwife program here.
C-Section
We encourage ‘family-centered’ or ‘gentle’ c-sections, as long as it supports the health of both mom and baby. This process encourages skin-to-skin contact immediately after the baby is born, during the golden hour. We also offer an educational class to help moms prepare for c-section delivery.
NICU
Should your newborn require the services of a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), Mercy’s level II and Sisters’ level III NICUs are fully staffed by board-certified neonatologists. Learn more about our NICU here.
